First game of the season, this past Saturday, doing warm up drills had a bit of an accident.
I was backpedaling pretty quickly (relative for a 42 year old 295 pounder) and was rolled into from
behind by another player, caught my ankle and rolled my lower leg into the ground.  My body didn't
stop and I ended up catapaulting over the rolling player.  Landed full and hard on my hip.  Not even a twinge
or a bit of pain in the hip.  However, wound up with a completely torn MCL, and minor damage to ACL
and meniscus.  Not quite a complete unhappy trio, but painful enough.
Anyhow, been about 2 1/2 years for the BHR and I swear I can't remember what hip I had operated if asked.
Great feeling having to pause and think about it!

shep, sorry about the mcl, some good comfort that the hip held up - hope the recovery for the mcl goes well.

A friend got all of his 'cls torn during one of our soccer games on one knee, it took him a bit, but he came back to play. Doing well now.

Excellent post, sort of.  Thanks for the Success Story, sort of.  If you were on a sister forum about torn CLs, I guess they might not think it's a success, but here, it's a success.  Boomer should hear about this one.  Thanks and keep us posted on your Rugby fun, and take r easy on the knees.

This makes me feel pretty wimpy for getting taken out in a recent soccer match.  :-[

Wow sheptr, never heard of anyone getting back to rugby after resurfacing. Good luck with the recovery of your other injury.
Was this your first season back post op?

AB's V Ireland tonight over here - 3rd & final test of their tour. Promises to be a good one. The Irish nearly beat us for the first time in 107 years last weekend. This week we have several forced changes to our line up. The ABs Team has a lot of new caps so the Irish will be backing themselves.... should be a cracker!
