Spencer is out of surgery and doing well

It's been 12 weeks since my crash and I had my third x-ray today (posted in gallery) and the verdict is......the healing has begun,! I'm cleared to walk (one crutch until no limp), pool exercise, light leg presses, 1/4 squats (bodyweight only) and stationary biking. Four weeks of the aforementioned exercises and then i can start aggressive PT, training and back to teaching indoor cycling. By the end of August or early September I should be able to get back to cycling on the road. Thanks to everyone for your support.

Excellent, Spencer - sorry you've had to go through it, but glad that you've kept the hip happy. Have they removed any of the extra hardware?

Congrats Spencer. You have sure been through it, coming out with a master's degree in recoveries. Like you, we were all impressed and happy to hear how well your resurfacing survived the crash.
Heal well, and thanks for all the help and support that you have provided to others on this site.

@Hern: they won't take out the hardware until for 12 months (from April 24th). But, tonight I am going to try my home brewed IPA- named, Metal Hippy IPA!

So I've got that going for me......which is nice.

Great Caddyshack reference. Will have to get some metal hippy IPA in due time. Just make it so you use a scalpel to POP the cap.  ::)

Good news today.16 weeks since my crash and the fractured trochanter is healing very nicely. I've been released to aggressive PT and non-impact exercise. Will go on my first road ride tomorrow. Next consult is next March for a pre-op consult and hardware removal next April. Thanks to you all who have been so supportive, it really means a lot to me. Don't worry, I'll take it slow and no racing for a while. I've been teaching spin for the past week with no issues so it's time to giddyup. Also doc told me I can start running 3 months after the hardware is out, but that will be a story for another day.

Brilliant news Spencer you are making great progress. Having hada large plate/pins for femural fracture many years before my HR I ran numerous half marathons and a few marathons after the hardware removal, so I know you too will make a full recovery. But just take it slowly.
