I have to put the TED socks on for a six weeks. I am sure there will be a time when I have to do this myself.

A nurse has just given me what sounded like a good tp to make the process a bit easier, not sure how useful it may be but anything is worth a try.

Place a feezer bag over the foot which allows the sock to slide on easier and in position, then simply slide the the feezer bag off. At least this gets it ont he foot correctly.

Wish I got that tip!  Sounds like a great one, hope it works well!  Good luck with recovery, and wear those TEDS, they do help!

Sounds like a good tip...

I also had to use TEDs for four weeks, you might also look at this great tool that I was given at the hospital after my surgeries, it was probably the best tool I had outside of my crutches. It not only worked for TEDs but also for regular socks early on.

This is the one that I used, there are other variations available, but this was inexpensive and effective for me.

available at : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SOJM84/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0002Q1A4M&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=112AZVNWJ3R3HB27KRM9

but I'm sure you can get it or one like it at many places.

Here's a woman's description of her use of it:

and her using it:

Good luck, TEDs were part of the course of things with my surgeon, to avoid blood clots, and they posed a very definite fashion statement, especially with shorts...    8) 8) 8) 8) very cool.

thanks for the link. Definately going to have to get one of these. I have tried every other way without luck.

Like the blanket too, cool ;)

I had one of those and the last poster was correct; it was the best tool next to my crutches. HIGHLY recommend!

I got one of those from the hospital after surgery.  That sock aid is simply genius.  I am new to the recovery process (surgery was 6/18/12) and have only used it a couple times but last night I tried baby powder first and it slid on a little easier than before.

Yeah, I managed to crack it with a device very similar to the one shown. Very useful.

Anything that makes it easier is a good thing. The TEDs can be stubborn, so baby powder sounds like a good idea.
