First Crash, No Problem

I've been waiting for this, today while ripping through a turn my back wheel slid out and when I corrected and caught it, I rode right into a tree, crashing hard and landing on my hip.  No pain, no damage, no problem.  In the past I would push all the time on the mountain bike and I'd go down a lot.  Over the past few weeks I knew I wasn't pushing hard enough, today I was.  Now, once again I know that I'm not made of glass and I can keep pushing this thing.

Glad to hear you didn't hurt the hip woody!  Keep pushing and enjoy the trails!

Sounds like fun wood! I fancy giving trail riding a go but im pretty clumsy so ill wait a few months yet before i try it! ;D

That's why I'm not riding the mountain bike upstate.  Falling on rocks hurts a lot more than falling on dirt and sand.

I'm paranoid about that too, as I like to ride hard and fast and that does result in me crashing. 

You are past 6months right?  that's when I'm thinking I can start pushing a bit more, and get on some real trails :)

Glad you're alright.  Just got back from Marquette, MI.  Really got a good intro into the MTB world.  They have some of the best single track in the country, if not the best.  Local group does an incredible job on the trails.  They have this area called the "South Trails" which MTB Magazine did a story on recently, and they are incredible.  I had a ball riding them.  I too went down a few times and happy to say, all was fine with my hip.  Sure enough, I had to fall almost everytime on the right side; my surgical side.  Anyway Woody, don't take too many crazy risks.  Always gotta weigh out that "Risk vs. Reward" thing.
