Hi Ryan:

I hope this morning finds you feeling comfortable and not in too much pain. Remember, as so many of us have said, the first few weeks are the toughest. So, do listen to your body and take it easy.

Wishing you and yours a happy Holiday Day Season! Let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.

Anna

Hi Ryan, I hope your surgery went well. Rest up for a few weeks and take things slowly. You will get hard days and some days you will think you wont ever get better ... but you will. It just takes time! I'm 30 years old and nearly 5 months post surgery now .... I am absolutely loving life!

Please update us when you are feeling well enough

Thank you all for your messages. I have been resting pretty comfortably over the past 6 days. I find it so wild how mobile I am with my two crutches. My pain level has been low, and I have been pretty active. I have mostly been resting in a recliner with the Polar Ice machine going every hour or so, Watching football. (Proud Fan of the Carolina Panthers!), Small trips christmas shopping, and catching up on some much needed sleep.
I have been blessed to have my mother, sister, finance, soon to be mother in law, and two chipper dogs taking care of me. While it has been a bit chaotic at times; I would be in a world of hurt if it weren't for them.
I no longer have that rotting sharp pain that felt like I had the worlds worst groin pull. I am defiantly moving slower and assume that a majority of the pain I feel is from the surgery. There is an occasional clunking or sliding sensation that I have noticed on my short walks. I am only 6 days post opp., so Im not really thinking much of it. Hoping its my new hip actually being able to move. But if anyone else has felt those type of sensations or if thats normal, Please let me know!
My plan of action over the next week of my recovery is just to try and do a little more each day. Nothing special or strenuous. Keep It Simple Stupid. I just plan to try and to do a little more walking each day, continue to get up and down the stairs without falling, my 4 post opp. exercises, and watch some college bowl games. Promise to check in soon. Thanks for all the support. Knowing Im not alone is a comforting feeling! Merry Christmas.

I never had any 'clunking' sensations (yet) but many others have reported it.
I looked at your profile and saw that we're almost neighbors. If - or should I say when? - the Panthers make it to the SuperBowl let's have a party!

Hi Ryan,  I just saw this thread for the first time just now and just read all the great posts.  I had both hips resurfaced by Dr Gross the week before you had your surgery, so I had my 2nd operation on the 11th.  One comment I can make now- you will feel a world better in one week!  Even having had both of mine done just a week before you, I am about to switch from crutches to a cane, and no painkillers in the last week (other than a tylenol here and there).  Seems like you've timed things quite well to be pain free and ready for activities by the time of your wedding.  Best of luck with your recovery!
