Hi Anna-

It is great to hear from you and that you are going to the Alps for a ski trip. In fact, I guess you are there by now and have finished your first day or two?? Be careful out there.

I too, am doing quite well with just a few complaints. My physical therapist told me that because I have a lot of flexibility my range of motion was admirable from the start of therapy. Although, when I bend forward sitting down to put on boots there is a painful pull in my back, which is likely caused by the disc problems in my lower back. But my major complaint remains the muscle spasms and constant discomfort in my butt cheek on the operated hip side. It is so annoying and drives me crazy when I am laying down at night. I had a massage last week and hoped the massage would help loosen the sciatic nerve area, but I got no relief! And, I do use my Stick but still my hamstrings and thigh areas are tight.

Well, enough complaining. All in all, at almost six months I am feeling pretty darn good.  I am chuffed for you and your recovery, Anna. We are both doing great!!!

Take care.

Reno,
I'm not having the problems you described, but being curious I did a little research and found this article you might find interesting.

I hope there is a little bit of help in there for you...good luck!

Thanks guys for your wisdom yet again!! :D I agree with you chuck, you have to work at the ROM. Funny enough, my physio has given me that exact same exercise to do Hern so I'm just starting at that now but .....

I have just got back from my ski trip and all I can say is ... it was AWESOME!!! I went thinking I would have no confidence, probably only have the strength to do 1/2 days and perhaps really easy runs but I was wrong. I did 7 full days straight with not a wince from my hip. By the end of the week I was flying and loving every minute. I kept to my surgeons rules of no off piste, no black runs and no jumping but I can live with that. I feel like my leg is now even stronger and guess what?!!! ...... the skiing seems to have helped my ROM. I have gone from 90 degrees to about 110 in the space of a week!! Wow wee :)

Absolutely loving life! I hope my hip lasts me many more years and many more ski seasons! :D

So glad to hear you are doing well too Reno. My ham strings are incredibly tight and I'm still having very painful massages from my physio for tight muscles but we will get there. I wouldn't know my muscles were tight if she didn't prod them once a week!!!! :)
