Leg Pain

My left hip was resurfaced in 2000 and was trouble free until 2010.
Since then I have a problem walking for longer than 25 minutes.
At that point pain develops in the front of the thigh above the knee and gradually increases in intensity and spreads throughout the front of the thigh from the knee up to and through the hip.
By the time I’ve walked 40 minutes I am forced to stop because of the pain.
My Hip surgeon couldn’t see anything indicated in x-rays so referred me to a back specialist, because he noted degeneration in a couple of my spinal discs.
The back specialist considers the degeneration is just normal wear and tear for my age and can’t be the cause of the leg pain. He also discounts claudication because he says I recover too slowly after I have to stop walking.
Does my problem ring any bells with anyone?
Hopefully someone who found a solution  :)

Hey Willsie01, it's me again. I see you posted under another topic with same question :)
As I said before I had thigh pain like yours. Although I did not have obvious knee pain, it was caused by degeneration of the knee.
The unnoticeable knee issue caused a couple of muscles in the quad to atrophy. The solution was strengthening and stretching of the leg muscles.
