Thanks for the prayers Kate.  GOD DOES HEAL!!!  I'm slowly getting better.  Doc said on Thursday I have two more weeks in the wheel chair, than I can start using a cane or a crutch and start putting about 25% weight on my injured leg.  If it feels good I can increase that to 50%.  The xrays of my shoulder and ribs fractures still look like a train wreck though.  Doc says they'll heal like that.  Collar bone is in three pieces.  One piece in completely vertical and the two long pieces aren't even close to be aligned.  I guess they'll heal like that.  Same with ribs.  Some of them are like on top or beside the adjacent broken end.  But I guess they heal up somehow.

I tried to post a picture but it keeps telling me it's to big.  I compressed and tried to resize it, but I'm not the most computer savy guy around.  Spencer, you'd get a kick out of the femur hardware.

I've had multiple ribs broken before, john - those healed and are fine now. Never dealt with the collarbone, the best of luck healing ... amazing picture, I guess the resurfaces can take a beating.

Hernanu, I was surprised that the implant took the force of such a hard fall.  Guess that's something to be thankful for.  I'm finally making the transition from the wheelchair to a cane.  Boy, after two days of using a cane my legs are sore!!!  I guess sitting in a wheelchair for almost 2 months will do that to you.  I'm just glad that I'm past that stage, I was getting pretty tired of that chair.  Shoulder and collar bone are feeling pretty good, very little pain there.  Ribs still ache, especially when I wake up in the mornings, or reach for something.  I still spend most of the day sitting, but try to get up and move around regularly.  It'll take a while to get stronger I'm sure.  But, all in all, things are looking up.

I'm glad things are looking up. The strength will come back, it's nice you're out of the chair and locomoting on your own.

Ribs are tough. They are always in motion, although we never really notice that.

Some Dude

Glad to hear you're making progress, slowly but surely. Good luck ! That's quite an x-ray  :o

John - I am sending Emily an e mail suggesting that she move your beer supply to the far corner of your back yard. That will increase the amount of exercise you are getting.

I'm visiting with Dr. Rector today for my two year check up on the second hip.

Ha-Ha, Boomer, very funny.  What, do you want my beer all the way out by the chickens?  I keep most of my beer out in the Gazebo as it is.  That's plenty of a walk with my cane.  Just saw the doctor today.  He said I'm to stay on the cane till July 1.  He did clear me to drive across the country to Lake Superior and than down to Madison, WI for cycling nationals.  NO, I'm not riding, my daughter is.

Your family should strap you on the roof rack for the drive East so you'll be stretched out when you get there.

I showed Dr. Rector your recent x-rays, and e mailed him a copy so he could study them a bit. He didn't believe you could suffer such serious injuries falling out of your recliner, but that's what I told him.

My new x rays made him very happy. The hips are doing great. He told me they are all healed up and to increase my activity level. OMG! I'm already exercising every day. He wants me skiing again, and suggested I start shooting some hoops as well. He was adamant that I refrain from doing any yard work or home improvement projects. These are play hips.

You might want to e mail Dr. Rector to try to redeem your reputation. As it stand now I don't think he would consider resurfacing your other hip when the time since I've convinced him your are a reckless beer drinking brigand.

Might help the cell reception too.

Too bad you couldn't afford the dual work/play hips.

Great news on the xrays.
