Well I've just arrived home from Wales to find a letter from Mr Treacy waiting for me. He's reviewed my case and wants an MRI doing to further see the state of my cartilage. As the plain X-day shows little in the way of degradation. Fingers crossed i might not have to have a round 2 for a good while yet then!! ;)

That sounds like a good choice.

My right hip started up doing physio for my left around October and November 2011. Once in a while it "flares" but there is always a cause. Such as certain weak angles on glute medias on the right side which, once addressed, keep the pain from occurring on the right side during certain activity.

Thanks mate ;) by the way I'll try the turmaric! :)

Alright, that's awesome. The one I use is Swanson Foods Curcimin Complex from online. I'm not sure if it's available in the UK, but I'm glad you are trying some!

One note on my right hip that might be helpful. It was hurting for maybe a year after I did that exercise where you lean over a bench, table, or sofa on your stomach and kick the legs from front to back, keeping them straight. Inexplicably, this glute max. exercises caused right hip pain the next day. Know what eliminated it? I already did glute med. exercises, but it was the addition of side leg abduction with theraband above the knee and toes forward that worked.

Couldn't sleep on my side without hip pain for a year or two until I started clamshells with theraband above the knee lying on my side. I had worked the same muscle before, but not until this particular exercise, could I sleep on my side again.

It seems it's not just the muscle that is worked that defines the benefit. It's also the specific movement, the angle on the moved muscle that seems to have a unique affect.

With 99% functioning plus good X-Ray results though, this might be a moot point, I guess.  :)

Thanks for the advice on painkillers.  I am not too keen on codeine as it binds me up, so I will order some Turmeric tablets from Amazon.  I regularly use turmeric in curries so happy to try a natural remedy.  Many thanks for the suggestion.
Has anyone tried Glucosamine?  I understand that there have been no medical studies to confirm its benefits but I get the impression it helps some people.  I am fairly sceptical of using unproven remedies but I did put my arthritic dog on tablets towards the end of her life and she improved.  I did run out for a short time and she stiffened up again and then when I recommenced the tablets she improved again.

I used glucosamine and don't really think it did anything. I used it over a very long period of time as well. It's my understanding that it is best used as a prophylactic as it can't repair damage already done. What I do find helps me is large doses of hyralouronic acid.

Just popped in for the first time in a long time, been amazingly busy, just do not know where the time has gone. It's good to see you are still here and doing well Danny, along with some other names, Hern, Canadian-ice, john C etc etc etc.

Last month was my hips second Birthday. A few niggles along the way, was suprised at how much work the glutes needed and at different angles, but now everything is great and it really does feel like a normal hip.

Hope everything goes ok with your right hip.
