Hi All,

I'm going to be having my left hip resurfaced by Dr. Pritchett on 01-Dec-14. I've already had my right one done by Dr. Pritchett on 12-Aug-14, which was been great so far, and I'm looking for suggestions to make this one go even better. Specifically, I'm wondering if increasing flexibility and strength in my left leg will decrease the amount of pain due to over stretched muscles. My hips are very inflexible (I've got dysplasia) but I think I can improve internal rotation between now and my operation that might make the surgical dislocation a bit easier. Is it worth (will it help?) doing or should I just maintain my current strength and flexibility and deal with the pain as I did my right leg? With my right leg I was on pain meds and crutches for about 9 days then off crutches on the 9th day and off pain meds on the 12th.

Thanks for any input you might have.

Matt

Obviously, doing your best to strengthen the whole leg and hip is beneficial. I worked hard on stretching as best I could and developing strength based on very specific exercises my PT gave me. In particle, regular lunges and Bulgarian lunges were great. As a veteran, you also know that you should develop your core, too. Good luck.
