I am almost at 10 weeks and my recovery as far as the hip goes has been mostly wonderful and better than expected.  Was able to walk unassisted for short distances at 1.5 weeks and ditched the single crutch (didn't do well with the cane) entirely and walked over a mile at 2 weeks.  I can now walk over 3 miles pretty easily (but realized I need to definitely focus on my form as I think I'm lapsing into my pain-filled fast limp/leaning walk)
BUT I have had the most aggravating skin issues and I haven't seen many posts about that...
First about day 10 (3-4 days after the 7-day bandage came off) I developed an angry red rash around my incision which turned out to be severe adhesive allergy.  It took a long time to heal and now I have a superficial infection at the bottom of my incision.  Dr Gross prescribed a bunch of antibiotics and said to get it checked out in two weeks.   Has anyone else dealt with a slow healing wound?   Ugh....

I hope that your infection has cleared up.   I understand what you are dealing with, if it has not cleared up please see an infectious disease specialist

I didn't have this problem. However, when my mother had a THR it was discovered that she had latex and adhesive allergies. It was awful. It looked like she had been burned. She was successfully treated. I remember it being slow, but not all the details. I hope your treatment is successful also. I feel for you.

Hi Maureen; I came here looking for information about a rash and lo and behold mine sounds the same as yours! It's in the same shape as the bandage and appeared a few days after I took it off. Could you tell us how it eventually resolved?

I had two courses of antibiotics from week six to week nine. The redness finally went. It was only on the upper part of my scar. Im now 20 weeks and feel great.
