OMG that is crazy scary.  Did you need surgery to repair the femur?  Crazy that the BHR survived.  Glad you're OK Now.

I had both hips done by Dr Marchand almost 12 years ago, when I was 56, same day! Nothing but positive results and I am suoer active, weights, road and mountain bike, kayak. I think you will be fine, don't rush the healing and recovery. Good luck. moe

Oh wow, this is very encouraging.  Excited to be done and recovered.  Just really nervous about going thru the process all over again.  Have you had any issues since having them done?

No issues other than crashing on ice on my mountain bike and breaking my right femur and having to be rescued. The BHR survived though, that experience was much worse than the surgery. Other than that no problems, only solutions.  :)

I did not need surgery, the break was actually right at the head where the BHR is. I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks and it healed on it's own. The first hospital the rescue took me to had never seen a BHR before. It took a lot of phone calls and convincing to get transferred to South County Hospital and Dr Marchand, he wanted to give it a chance to heal w/o surgery. It worked but it was touch and go for a while. If I would have been alone w/o a cell phone I might not have made it that day, all I could do was crawl in 20 degree weather and was miles away from a road. Incredibly painful experience. You will be in good hands at So County hospital and Dr M. Good luck.

That is absolutely WILD.  I'm certain you are very thankful you didn't have to get a revision or any surgery.  I'm sure that recovery was a challenge.  Glad you're OK.

July 2020 Biomet Magnum Trispike, Dr Gross. Needed 5cm3 bone graft behind acetabular cup.  That's a whole lot of packed in bone dust I pray heals.

I'm now only 5 days out and things are getting real.  I completed all my bllood work, EKG, Covid Test, and Physical.  I'm really anxious but I know it's the right thing to do.  Just not looking forward to the difficult recovery but I'm diligent and will be sure to do all my PT and follow all guidelines.  I will prob. make a new thread post op as a log and track my progress over the first few months.

Tomorrow is the big day.  They messed up with my Covid test so now I need to get a rapid one done pre op.  My arrival time for surgery is 10:45 but now my arrival time is 9:30 to get the Covid test.  Ugh.

I’m super nervous and anxious.  Constantly doubting myself that I should have put it off longer.   No turning back now.  See you on the other side.

Good Luck Pete. Looking forward to reading about your recovery.   Pat
