Thank you everyone for your responses. I thought I was very alone having this problem at such a young age but it seems that my story is very familiar. I'm glad that I found this site before having my surgery (tomorrow). I feel reassured knowing that there are people who have experienced what I am going through and are able to give advice. I have been reading through the site and have learned a lot about what to expect after surgery that I would never have known so already it has been very helpful. I am very anxious about the pending surgery but am comforted by the fact that those who have had the surgery seem to have had positive outcomes. Maybe this time next year I'll be waxing my skis again!

Age: 39 years. Very active mother of two young boys.  LBHR 10-15-08. 6 weeks post op in two days. So far so good! Hip pain is GONE. Walking great with cane. Looking forward to surgeon check in in two days to see what activities I can resume.

Hey Barbara,
I'm 47 and had my surgery 17 days ago and couldn't be happier.Good luck tomorrow and remember when you wake up from surgery tomorrow you may be a little sore but that feeling is nothing compared to the pain you have right now ;D. Oh and yes I believe you will be waxing your skis this time next year no problem,I plan on getting on my snowboard next year. Good luck again and let us know how your doing when you can.

I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at 28.  I had uncemented resurfacing by Dr. Gross in May at the age of 35.

RBHR 11/19/08, turned 60 last March.  When my doc said BHR is for young people 65 and under, I said "sign me up."

Long time no post. I had bilateral in June at age 59. I turned 60 last July. If you are breathing, age is just a number. My new "thrusters" are only 5 months old!!!
