In addition to pain meds (which I'm no longer on), I also have to take 1000 units Vitamin D (for 6 months), 2000 mg calcium (6 months), and 81 mg aspirin (for one month after finishing pradaxa).  I'm also taking an iron tablet in the morning and the evening (for 30 days post op).

i knew i left some off im taking calcium and vit D also. I dont think that it will help my dodgy hip but im hoping that it may help my other joint so they dont end up like my left hip!

Hi Danny,

I took glucosamin when the AO was detected on X-rays. The effect was close to zero. Then I had injections in the hip joint of Hyaluronic acid (Synvisctm), every 6 months. I felt much better for a couple of years but now time has come to change to joint.

Hi nekko,
to be honest i dont expect the suplements to make much if any difference to my bad hip but its more a preventative measure for my other joints. Although i do notice a difference with the oral hyaluronic acid.
Its interesting that you had the injecable version. I am interested in that for my bad hip. Im seeing my surgeon in a week or so i think ill ask him about that.

hipnhop

I bought all sorts of stuff and never took them consistently for more than two weeks so I can't attest to their effectiveness. If you hear about anything good please let me know.
