Steri Strips, Anybody?

My doc used steri strips to close the incision (plus sutures & dermabond). Does anyone know how long I can expect these little gems to hold on? I'm 12 days post op and there's no sign of the adhesive letting go. I'll be able to shower without covering the site with plastic in tape in a couple more days and am hopeful this will encourage the strips to drop off. If anyone has been down this path, please share your experience.

I think when mine started to peel off I just pulled them off all the way, might be worth a call to your doctor.

I just logged in to post the same question.  Mine have been on for 17 days and only two have fallen off.  The rest are still on there pretty tight.  The strips itch and are making me crazy!

I had them on my first, they seemed to last forever (probably about 3 weeks) but came off pretty quickly after. I didn't peel them off, stayed with them till the bitter end.

On my second, I had no strips, just glue and the amazing and unbelievably cool silver bandage. I took the bandage off after a week out from the hospital, and had this impressive scar.

They come off a little easier in the shower.

I had a new aquacell bandage that lasted the first 5 days, then another for 5 more days.  Went in and got the staples out and the steri-strips on and am at day 4 on them.  1 has come off - it was like 1/2 way off, so I pulled it the rest of the way - DAMN that stung!  Now I'll wait till the others are on the other side of the scar before I peel it off.  My scar looks really healthy/good.  If it wasn't such a 'private' area, I think we should all post photos  LOL!!!

Pretty sure I peeled mine off after 2 weeks, Jim's suggestion, in the shower, is good idea.

Hehehe  just pulled all of mine off in the shower  I'm at day 19 and 5 days after the staples came out /strips went on.  They were all peeling up and she said when they just "fell off" was ok, so a little shower helped them all fall off   :P

Mine were on for close to 3 or so weeks, I let them fall off as advised by the discharge instructions, being a bit paranoid about infection or the wound from opening up.  They did get wet once I was allowed to shower without covering them.

Thanks

"assisted"  ?  LOL   wound is well healed and ITCHING!  couple more days and I'll start with some Vit E and Wan Hua Oil as recommended by my acupt.  No need for a tattoo now.  Scars are where it's at.  (jkjk)

Last year I wanted to swim at the 5 week mark so I helped them fall off a little at week 4. Not advising though...
