I just got a SUP and it is great.  I wanted to take it easy this summer and have postponed salamoning and wakeboarding until next year.  This sport is perfect and gets me out of the boat and on top of the water.  I love it, it is a low risk way to enjoy the lake.

I got a SUP pre-op because it was painful to run/walk.  Was great to keep in shape.  Post-op it was phenomenal for rehabilitation of the glute med/min muscles.  Now I am hooked into another sport and am looking forward to racing SUP.
Best...

Great balancing excercise for post op. I'm guessing you could start not too far after post op. what size board are you using for racing?  How long is the race and what is your max speed?

Dr. Gross told me no SUP til 6 months post surgery. Seems pretty low risk and I've cheated a little and taken a few short paddles. Any other doctors warning against it for that long?

Crazy to wait 6 months post-op to sup.  I could see if you were going in the surf, but flat water?  Worst is a fall in, and flop lika a seal to get back on the board.  I hear caution, but some of these docs are way too worried.  This is one of the best exercises for rehabilitation.  The world of lawsuits...
I got a 14' Bark Dominator for racing.  No idea about speed, just having fun.

Well actually when I've cheated it's been to surf...but only on small waves. I think I'll stay out of the waves but feel free to paddle for exercise from here on. Thanks!
