Feeling the new hip work

I'm 5 weeks post op from a ceramic THR but I think my question will apply equally to all hippys.
If I stand with a flat hand on my natural hip and bend at the knee to 90 degrees, I can feel all sorts of muscles moving and flexing as the joint moves.
However, doing the same thing on my new hip, I feel nothing at all. I can't get it anywhere near 90 degrees yet but the whole thing feels hard and solid although theres no pain or discomfort at all.
Does this apply with you hippys?
Maybe 5 weeks is too soon to tell, but it seems like there's no feeling around the joint at all. Anyone had this too?

There is no pain in mine, but I definitely feel each muscle working and different layers moving, much more so than in a non-operated hip.

The top part of my thigh and all around the incision scar is rock solid almost numb in a way for me. I think it's all scar tissue... at least that's what i've been told!

It's a most weird feeling though.

I had that for a while. I think massaging it, rolling on it with the roller and just activity loosened it up. It lasted a bit for me, ruby - it's fairly normal I think.

It takes a long time for all things around and in the hip to heal.  If there is no pain, I would not be worrying since you are at 5 weeks post op.  It takes most people a long time to do abduction exercises like lifting the leg up from the side laying down and lifting it up from laying on your back.  It took me a long time to be able to lift my leg up from laying on the bed.  Not unusual.  We all heal at our own rates and it is usually slower than we think it should be.

Agree with others.  I think swelling might be part of that.  It may not look swollen, but it might have deeper down swelling that pinches some nerves and it might all feel pretty numb.  I think I had a similar deal and I think it wasn't until 2 months or so until I felt like all of the soft tissue had repaired itself.  I think even that is somwhat early for some folks.
