Does anybody know what has happened to Ruby and Bilateralbliss. They seem to have gone very quiet on here I hope all is well with them both.
I know Ruby had been suffering big time, any news?

Poor Ruby lets hope it eases. Good news on your bone density.

I am doing ok most of the time on my operated leg (apart from if I over do it) but my other hip is giving me some serious grief. Trouble with me is by the time I am let off the leash to really start to go for it with my new hip my old hip won't be up to much. It feels like it is starting to go down hill quicker. Now at the stage where it hurts when I am not doing anything.

I've been munching down calcium rich foods and taking MASSIVE doses of calcium supplements. Seems to have worked! My bone was as white as the BHR on the xrays!

I was at the W.I shop near the reception getting a paper to read at that time, Danny. I sat down to wait at 9.am so
I've missed you by a couple of minutes!
Glad you got good news,me too. I saw Mr Treacy's registrar, a very nice guy, who told me a few eye-watering details about my surgery- just as I was thinking about watching some of the youtube clips-no chance now!

Jas- good luck if and when you join the elite bilateral club-do you know the secret handshake?

Ask McMinn, he might take you up on it.  I think Pat got invited to a live operation with one of the US surgeons.

Good job on the anniversary's Jason and Danny.  Also - Jason that's a fairly common issue, the other hip going out quicker once the other one gets better.  Not sure if it's perception or if the new hip really does cause the other one to degenerate quicker from better on-sided mechanics, increased ROM, increased activity?  Don't know.  Good Luck with it.

My 'good hip' is going downhill already and I havent even had my bad one sorted yet! Lucky me. I think the NHS are just hoping that I pop my clogs before they have to do anything. I was contemplating asking Danny and Mike to go to university and get trained up as surgeons so they could operate on me. Thought it would be quicker .......

Glad to hear you are all doing well though. Lots of one year birthdays at the min  :)

Ruby is struggling with her psoas but at least the BHR is in good working order. She said her chiaropractor said her psoas was rock hard and needed alot of work.

I think shes still in pain and struggling Hern, but im sure she will get there eventually. Now, Sally on the other hand seems to be living life to the full and enjoying every last minute of it!  :)

I emailed my surgeon directly the other day as I was so fed up. He replied straight away which I was impressed with but .... well im not really sure what they are asking from me now. ...

"both your hips are dysplastic but the right one clearly more so. i would say that the joint is borderline in terms of suitability for a pao, and the key thing we would need to assess is whether the femoral head still fits into and rotates in the acetabulum (hip socket). My registrar tells me that your hip movements were very painful and therefore very difficult to assess your range of movement. In these circumstances we would need to examine your hip range of movement under an anaesthetic with some dye in the joint. If the ball clearly no longer fits properly in the socket the only option to consider for your pain relief would be a total hip replacement."

I have been told that this procedure is called an MUA (?) .... but I cant find much information on it. His registrar told me I was about 10 years too late for a PAO so im just left confused now. I think perhaps they just want to explore all options before they agree to do a THR.

I guess the waiting continues  >:(

MUA = manipulation under anaesthetic  ;)

I'm sorry it's being delayed. How quickly can they do this MUA?
