Just had right BHR with Dr Weeden in Fort Worth, TX on April 23, 2013.  I am home now after 2 days in the hospital.  Very little pain so far.   Looking forward to resuming activities such as tennis and maybe even softball.  Thank you for this site.  I got a lot of information here and think hip resurfacing was the right choice for me.

Hi figs

Welcome to Hip Talk.  Glad to hear things went well with your new BHR.  Take it easy in the beginning  so you don't have any setbacks and you will get back to your favorite activities soon.

Looking forward to hearing more about your recovery when you get time to post.

Good Luck.

Awesome news! Welcome to the world of no more "achey" hip pain. Walk as much as you can and your body will allow you to. It really loosens things up. I also did some very light stretching after a few weeks and both really helped. You will be amazed at how quickly you can recover. It still takes a little while though.... but it is SO worth it!

8 days post-op.  Recovery so far has been better than I expected.  Trying to walk with a cane today instead of walker.  I have been having a problem trying to sleep on my back in order to not violate 90 degree between hip and knee.

Do you sleep with a pillow under your knees?

The PT suggested I try a pillow under my knees.  Still woke up with a sore back.  Slept last night  in a recliner chair and no back pain in the morning.  Get staples out tomorrow 13 days after surgery.  Walking pretty good now with a cane.

Good! Each one of us does what is best for us to be comfortable.

Make sure that you're walking with a good gait with the cane. It is better to be a bit longer on the crutches than to develop habits that you may have to unlearn later.

Congrats on the staples.
