I have had my right hip resurfaced one and a half years ago. As soon as my year was up I wanted to start joggingon a soft surface. I quickly started having heal pain and was diagnosed with plantar faciatis. I think I might have gotten this from my gait. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had PF a couple of times before resurfacing. Your gait may have changed causing it although there are many different causes. It can be a very long lasting injury if not treated. What I found helpful is rolling the foot over a frozen water bottle, ice treatment and massage at the same time. They also make a device that you wear over your foot at night, it basically keeps your toes pulled back while you sleep preventing the fascia from tightening up. I made my own from an old basketball shoe, some duct tape and a strap, it sounds stupid but it REALLY worked. I also use special insoles from "SOLE", you heat them up in the oven and put them on so it becomes like a custom made sole. I use them as is w/o heat, REI sells them. I never ever go without them. Whenever I buy shoes of any type the first thing i do is rip out the insole and throw it out, they really are junk. Walking barefoot is also a no no for PF. Hope this helps, good luck. moe
