Hello - My name is Megan.  I am having a hip resurfacing surgery on May 4th....the reason I am having it is because I was in a car accident last July...broke my pelvis (among other things) and I developed MRSA while I was in the hospital and in one week it went straight to my hip joint which we found out later when I was having difficulty with my right side and it was popping....and very painful.  I didn't even hurt my hip in the car accident but here I am...I am 34 years old, an avid golfer and really scared about this upcoming surgery.  Not because of the actual surgery itself, I had twelve last year due to my accident, but because I am afraid of the MRSA coming back....anyone have any insight on this?

Hi Megan

I don't know much about MRSA, I am sorry.  I would, however, like to welcome you to Hip Talk. Most of us have already had our hip resurfacings.  There are quite a few younger people including teenagers that have had this surgery. As you know, the reason is to conserve your femur bone and give you a more natural gait.

I can' tell you more about MRSA, but just wanted to let you know we are here to talk and give you support during and after your surgery.
