Wow, what a great website!!
I have a question about types of pain but first a brief history.
During a triathlon one of the "safety directors" that patrol the bike course entered the course improperly and broadsided me fracturing my acetabulum. It took two major surgeries and a lot of stainless steel straps and screws to put it back together. I lost approximately 20 percent of the socket surface area and cartilage damage, it was that broken up! This was one year ago. For eight months I progressed with excellent results thinking I was going to beat this and be fine. Now I seem to have plateaued and starting to regress. The ortophedic surgeon warned me this would probably happen, and a hip replacement was in my future. I started researching THR and ran across Hip Resurfacing. People were actually saying they could run!! It literally brought tears to my eyes while reading about the procedure.
One year out and I'm looking at various surgeons but I'm still not sure what is causing the pain in the front part of my injured hip. It radiates down my thigh and not a pin point type pain I would THINK would be coming from bone on bone. Although the hip resurfacing sounds close to a miracle I don't want to have it done and still have the same pains because it was something else. Ant thoughts or suggestions?

Find a resurfacing surgeon that has done many many procedures successfully that you can get to. Some people fly half way around the world for the most experienced surgeons. If you can find one within driving distance all the better! Upwards of 1000 procedures is desirable. If you cannot find one you like close enough, someone else can do the x-rays and/or MRI's and send them to your chosen surgeon for review.

Go to the surgeon and have x-rays and/or MRI's done to determine what is going on in your hip. Listen to the surgeon. They will know what is up!

Hope it all works out for ya!!
