As all recovering hippies will know, the recovery process is a series of "baby steps" that in time add up to huge strides of progress from the surgery.  Necessity being the mother of invention, with my support team AWOL for a while, I today tackled my first major post op challenge - putting on my socks by myself.  I was able to do this fairly easily on the non-op side by putting my non-op knee on an ottoman for balance and reaching back to pull the sock on.  It was a less elegant affair on the operated leg with grabber assistance and toe wiggle/shimmying the sock into co-operation, but we got there.  I realize the procedure is not quite a three and a half somersaults piked, but my achievement nevertheless put me in a celebratory mood.  So turning to the search for my new moniker I wondered about "hip-hip-hooray".  Sadly this is already taken, presumably by someone who can put their socks on.

Good wishes to all recovering hippies.
