I have had bi-lateral hip resurfacing in 2010 for the left hip  and 2011 for the right!  In my left hip, I developed a malady called myositis ossificans.  It is fairly rare and it most likely will not go away.  I'm wondering if anyone out there with hip resurfacing has had it and how it is affecting them.  My surgeon is great and there was no way to know in advance.  I am not having any issues with the right hip.  Any person with a this experience, I would be thankful to hear from you.

Thank you

Oiler

Hi Oiler, and welcome to the site. Sorry you have do deal with this.

I haven't run into this, but it seems like the usual thing that happens is that eventually the bone that is grown into the deep muscles is reabsorbed. It takes time, but it will be subsumed by your body.

The typical source is a deep bruise that is untreated properly by ice, rest, etc.

Here's a site that has some exercises for treatment of it. All of the places I checked, though said that it was something that eventually is reabsorbed.

Again - sorry you're dealing with this. Were you told that this would not go away?
