I'm at the OFFICIAL six month mark in about 5 days.  I decided that this weekend I'll maybe go for a bike ride.  Dr. Gross told me to avoid a "real" bike for six months, in the unlikely event i fell off.  I have been riding an exercise bike for a while... I also am going to do a *short* run..   maybe 1/4 mile... 1/2 mile... I have no plans to try and go out and push it....  but i'll run far enough that I can get a video... and it is going to be amazing.  I have not run for real... a "real" run for YEARS.

we are going to make a family event out of it.  i may smoke a cigar to celebrate.  :)  Dr. Gross also said to avoid tobacco for six months and I have very dutifully followed that rule and have foregone my usually monthly cigar for six months... it will be nice to fire one up!!!  :)

i have not given up the scotch however....  i'm enjoying a nice glass of black label as I write this.. :)

please keep us posted on your progress!!!

i measured my knee to nose and here in my chair.. i'm maybe 4"....  i think that is gradually getting better....  a month or so ago it was a big further.. 5-6"....  it will be really weird to be able to touch my knee to my nose.. that hasn't happened in a LOOOOONG time!! :)

I went for a 3 mile run today. My first in several years. I don't like running and this was a good reminder.  :)

It was pain free as far as the hip goes.  Some heal pain, some knee pain, etc but no hip pain. I'll run occasionally, but I much prefer biking for my aerobic exercise.

Sean and Bernie, our surgeries were about the same time and I'm with you guys, I prefer biking and other aerobic activities.  I like a run once in awhile though since that's what I did in High School.  I think if the right side weren't messed up, I'd certainly be starting up on a run or a good bike tour.
