 I just got a thorough chewing out from my Kaiser doctor, he's pissed I want to go out of the southern area to go see Dr. Klug. "What if there's a complication, what about pre-op care, what difference does it make if they're revising a resurfacing, a total hip or a thr from scratch"
"The guy down here has done thousand of thr's, as a doctor I recommend staying here"  Me- "Well last time they missed by 20 degrees so I want to go to the guy I'm most comfortable with" His reply-  "But what about post op care ?" "Do they know they're going to be doing post op care down here" Me- "Well gee I don't know, how about you guys step into the eighties and learn how to communicate with each other, you act like you guys are on 2 different planets"  "What if I was on vacation and got hurt up there, wouldn't that be the same thing" "You guys really have NO way to communicate ?" "Sounds pretty rinky dink to me"  Pretty much went downhill from there...  Yay Kaiser, love it. Sorry had to vent 8)

I had a few like that with my gp on route to getting mine done mate. Some in the medical world are very arrogant!

Bill, F them! Stay with Dr. Klug cause he will take care of you. Besides you kinda already know post op protocol. Have Dr. Klug set up your post -op deal before you even have your surgery. I am sure he has had many patients out of the area and this isn't new to him. Remember doctors are just like construction workers some are hacks and some are craftsmen.

Way to stand up for yourself Bill.  I loved the Well last time they missed by 20 degrees .

When I argued with my doctor we sparred for almost 20 minutes, he gave me all the same garbage plus some.  Even my family thought I was nuts driving from Pittsburgh to South Carolina.

Oh good it's not just me  ;D  True story. August 10th my sister in law has a freak accident in Australia on a dive trip, somehow she trips and falls in the boat with her weight belt, tanks etc. and breaks her pelvis in two pieces. She had a thr and the part with the cup broke off. We were able to get medical information back and forth, relayed travel plans for her son, school registration information, communicated daily blah blah blah, and they're in effen
A - U - S - T - R - A - L - I - A.........  But Kaiser north and Kaiser south can't communicate to each other, that fills me with so much confidence I can't even tell ya. I finally just gave up. Glad you're on the cutting edge of technology there chief, wowie.  lol

It's the same in England between counties. No communication. Absolutely rubbish. I guess they just want to take the easy route. My family also couldn't understand why I wanted to travel miles when there were surgeons just round the corner. I'm so glad I did though. You know best ... travel to see that craftsman :)

I just dealt with the communication thing with my Dad, Bill.

He had to see a specialist in the Boston area. He had a scan done in western Massachusetts at a large hospital. The file generated is a small size file. Nowhere near the size of a file my kids post to YouTube.

We had an appointment to see the specialist, then found the day before that they were about to cancel the appointment since the hospital had not sent the CD with the scan results to the specialist.

My poor mother had to run to two separate places to get the reports and a CD. Once we got to the appointment, the specialist looked at the disk and said it was missing the scan. This for a file that could have been emailed.

So I blew up in multiple colors.

He said that he was frustrated too, but one of the main issues with medical establishments is that they don't like to share information. So there's different formats, software used, etc. but it really is all dictated by a lack of will and desire to share information with other providers.

I really do think it comes from the "why would you want to go somewhere else, when despite all evidence, I'm so wonderful?" attitude.

You're comfortable with your choice of Dr Klug - stick with him.

I had similar problems and had to 'move' to a new GP (doctor) in England to get the referral to the surgeon I knew would look after me.

Keep battling - you'll get there.
