I decided to do some research into the clearances required to create the thick film fluid lubrication that resurfacing relies on for it's remarkably low wear and I came across this

I'm amassing quite a lot of data and info on resurfacing now. I have to admit prior to the op I did wonder why the tolerances of the bhr compared to other devices seemed loose I thought surely the tighter tge better but from what I've seen that too tight tolerances are one of tge reasons the asr failed. The more research I do on the bhr the more impressed I am with the design

Interesting read Danny, thanks for posting.

I'm not one to split hairs (OK yes I am  ;D ), but I think you mean that too tight a clearance or "fit" could result in more wear.  The tolerance is how much deviation from the specified size or shape is allowable.  A "loose" tolerance could actually result in a "tighter" fit.

Of course I do Danny.  I just can't help myself.

Probably comes from having two precocious kids who love to correct me at every turn.

Fair one mate! It seems as though before my op I couldn't really find much propper scientific data, I've found loads since my op!
I read recently that the c+ uses a sacrificial surface ie on side is softer than the other. I'm really interested in the whole subject now.
