Went to see the bone doctor yesterday.  The right side is going to be done on 2/20/12 51 weeks after the left hip.  I am not sure if it is the doctor or the new owners of the hospital but this time I have to wash the hip area with a special soap, use a fresh towel and sheets daily for 5 days prior to surgery.  I also have to have a MRSA swab before surgery.  I do have the script for outpatient PT already so I won't have to deal with the home PT guy.

Hi Neild5,

I wanted to wish you an early welcome to the club. With you being 51 weeks after the first hip, I am thinking that you should be well recovered from the first surgery. I really considered waiting for my second hip but I had the first one done in the summer and took all my holidays as basically medical leave and did not want to forgo another summer and had my second one done in Dec 2011 about 4.5 months after my first. I am 5 weeks now and hoping I will be full weight bearing next week when I go for my 6 week checkup. The second one was so much easier, I knew what to expect and it was just overall better. It has been a bit difficult with the fact that my left leg feels a bit weak from the first surgery still but I am almost there. The pressure on that leg will decrease substantially when I can fully weight bear on my new hip. Anyway, congrats and don't worry it will go well and again - welcome!!
