Swelling and Itching

I am 8 days post-op LHR.  Today my hip swelled up so much it looks like a giant Country Ham.  I don't really have an unusual amount of pain.  I knew there would be some swelling, but I did not anticipate this.  The hip and thigh feel hard as cement.  I have no swelling below the knee.

Also -- I am itchy all over.  I have been told this is a reaction to the anesthesia. 

Has anybody else experienced this type of swelling or itchiness?

Hi Tania, post op I had horrible itching,my face ,my arms,and body.The Dr.told me it was from the anesthesia and pain meds, so they gave me benadril,for a few days,but I was still on the hospital. Good luck with everything.

Thanks for your response.  Just regular, over-the-counter?  I will get some ;D
