Bosoxgordon, your back pain might very well be due to your arthritic hip but don't be so sure it is because you are favoring that side. It is not necessarily a voluntary thing. I was resurfaced on my left hip about 4 1/2 months ago. The bad back pain left immediately but some residual tightness remained. Over the last few months the whole area down the thigh, groin, back, spine...everything around there continues to loosen up. Until you go through it and then have this lossening happen, I think it is hard to know. For me it was kind of like riding in a cramped car seat for a really long drive. You sort of deal with it and then when you finally get a chance to get out and stretch, you are always so surprised at just how uncomfortable you really were and how happy you are to be out of the car.

Good luck,
Chuckm

Sorry to hear that, hope things work out well, Scott. Ideally someone cancels and you can slip into their slot.

Scott - sorry to hear that.  I know how that goes, those sorts of issues really put the hip into perspective.  Although, in order for you to stay solid and healthy (mentally mostly) and to be the most can be for you family, you have to focus on yourself sometimes.  The stress of an OA hip tossed into the mix can really bring you down.  Might not seem like much when you compare it to the bigger picture, but you certianly don't need any extra stress and the nagging hip will keep nagging.  Keep focusing on the future and the fact that the pain will go away after surgery and do what you can to keep your head healthy.  Good luck.

There really isn't any other effective way of treatment, the joint replacement is quite a reliable treatment so I would recommend it.
