5 years - they went quickly!
« on: August 14, 2017, 04:06:01 AM »
Hi Hippies,
I passed 5 years with my THR last week and it's flown by.
I have no issues at all and like many here, it's been life changing surgery for me.
I couldn't have HR due to to a slipped femoral epiphysis age 14 and  was struggling to accept that but the advice I got here helped so much.
I'm back motorcycling and playing football- those dark days of arthritic pain seem much further away than 5 years!
So for anyone who isn't a HR candidate, don't despair- a large ball THR, well placed, is a very good option.
Cheers Mike.

Mike

So great to hear from you and you are doing so well with your THR.  We all want our hip resurfacings, but we need to know there are other solutions that work very well.  Your THR story and update will help many that may not have a hip resurfacing, but want to get on with life without pain and restrictions.

I hope we hear from you down the road as you enjoy life, once again.

Thanks again for stopping by.  I wish you the very best.

Good on you.

My 46 year old friend (who is still a regular cyclist post-op) recently chose large ball ceramic THR instead of a resurfacing and he is as happy as can be with it.

And my second BHR turned into a ceramic THR because the femoral head broke off during surgery. Three and a half months later I cycled 49 miles on Sunday and ran 10km on Tuesday. THR means not having to worry so much about breaking the head off your femur... (but better not break it lower down!..)
