Anyone ever "popped" scar tissue and re-set the recovery?

I'm about 6 months from right side BHR, had been doing great with exercise and daily life, and getting out of my vehicle my hip flexor area sort of "popped" (different than the click/grind of the joint itself, felt more like soft tissue) and I had a horrible pain radiate down all parts of my quads and into my knee. After a few minutes it calmed down but left it in state of being super tight and tender. After a couple of days the pain seemed to go completely away and I got back to full activity, but then after a couple of days of that it started the on again, off again type pain almost like spasms or something.

My xray looks fine and my PT sort of ruled out tendonitis or a muscle/tendon tear because of the on again, off again nature of it. I'll go a whole day and feel pretty much 100%, then all of a sudden it starts a tugging pain when walking, then fine again, etc.  Mostly the "on again" pain the last few days though.  He thinks that maybe I tore through some scar tissue, and the entire front of hip area is now in a state of shock and spasm from it. It's been 2 weeks now and not really much of any improvement for more than a day or so. Anyone ever experience this?
