First 10K race 1 year 3 mo post surface

I just ran my first post surgery race - 10K road race in Minster OH. Hit a 37:58 at a 6:08 pace. 85th percentile in Age Grade which is National level and close to International (>90th), which I was before OA kicked in. Hip continues to improve regarding soreness. I splashed out on Nike Alpha Fly Zooms. Great cushion and nice spring return, really reduces pounding. It has been a long road and many times I did not think I was going to get back to racing. Often there would be one step forward two back. I did not rush things and started cautiously running on soft trail 9 mo PO (against 12 mo recommendation) and slowly building my running miles with many miles spent on my bike. Holy moly, that's awesome.  I've never gotten back to running (10 years right, 11 months left).  I get somewhere between 3/4 and 2 miles and my hip starts to get sore deep down in. 

Weird thing is that I can do HIIT workouts for an hour (box jumps, burpees, etc...) with no effect. 

Anyway, congrats on getting back to racing.

Wow, that's an amazing time!  I started running at around age 50 but could never break 40 minutes.

You may consider adding a post to the "Running, Ironman, Marathoner" section so that runners can quickly find it. That result could be a real motivating factor for younger people who are considering Hip Resurfacing.
