Hi together,

I I'd like to ask if anyone can comment on how firmly the press-fit socket fits immediately after implantation. The socket is extremely important with resurfacing. Therefore, it's obviously a problem if the socket slips slightly during healing and then doesn't sit firmly in the optimal position later. Of course, major strain should be avoided in the first few weeks, but everyone walks differently. Some people have a soft gait, while others place their feet much harder. Can anyone comment on whether there's a risk of slippage?

Best regards and thanks for the answers...HipGiz

Stability will be something determined by the surgeon during the procedure.  My 2nd HR, my doctor, Pritchett, told me he "didn't like the way the socket fit so he put in a screw.  Still didn't like it so he did a second", words to that effect.  The best surgeons know this procedure so well they can make these kinds of calls and address them.  Dr. Pritchett is clearly one of them.  I had slightly shallow sockets and the 2nd hip needed extra stabilization.  Going into my 7th year bilateral without a hitch.  Choice of surgeon is the critical decision.  Best of luck.
