When is it too late?

I was bone on bone for both of my hips. The doctor used words like "awful" and "horrible" to describe them. So I'm thinking the answer is "pretty bad". I'm not sure if or when that end point is. It may also depend on the surgeon, and the device used. What has your doctor told you?

Although Dr Su installed my hip resurfacings, I sent my X-rays to Dr Desmet for his opinion for my left hip.  I asked if I was a candidate for hip resurfacing?  He replied that I was the perfect candidate but don’t wait as I am grinding my bones away and he likes to have something left to work with!

When does hip osteoarthritis become too bad resurfacing is not an option anymore?

Just saw this and thought I'd chip in. My X-ray showed bone on bone and Surgeon said that it had gotten pretty bad. I was limping, no power in my right leg and at 38, was essentially disabled, despite previously playing a tonne of football and badminton and hitting the gym 4/5 times a week.

I had a BHR last week and it's a bit early to tell but even things like being able to stand up straight now without that familiar twinge is incredible.
