Return faster, no.  Return closer to full performance, yes.  MMA fighters Chris Weidman and Matt Mitrione supposedly had hip resurfacing during their professional careers.  There are rumors Conor McGregor had it done, but unconfirmed.

Keep in mind athletes careers are short anyways. I'm sure Andy Murray and other pro athletes have no regrets about their surgery.  But as far as hip resurfacing, when all goes well, your activity will likely exceed your expectations.
