I'm researching getting my right hip resurfaced.  I have been in touch with Wockhardt Hospital and also with a company called "Fly2 India 4 health" (forehealth.com I believe is their email)  They seem to be sort of medical travel agents for India.  Has anyone heard of them or used them?  They act as a liaison between me and the hospitals.  They are also communicating with Dr. Bose. They put together the total trip.  I know the hospitals do this as well. I'm just curious if anyone has used them before.

Welcome to Hip Talk Joy

I have heard of Wockhardt Hospital and have a couple of Dr. Malhan's patient stories on this page  http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipstories.php

I know a lot more people personally via email that have gone to Dr. Bose.  I was considering him but did not want to fly quite that far.  I ended up going to De Smet in Belgium for about $16,000 trip and medical expenses.

Most of us have just planned our own trips.  Both Dr. Bose's office and Dr. De Smet's office will make the hospital arrangements and tell you places to stay.  In Belgium you stay at Dr. De Smet's Villa.

The companies you speak of just make it easier to plan to trip, but some charge quite a bit.  I just emailed De Smets office and got all the info I needed, then made a plane reservation thru United.  Got a bulkhead seat coming back. The upgrade was free since I was going to be in a wheelchair at the airport.  I was walking on one crutch coming back, but the airports are difficult to maneuver 9 days after surgery.

I would make sure you know what the company is charging you. THe least inexpensive one I have heard of charges $200 extra.  You will eventually get bills from the hospitals and the doctors.  You don't want to find out you paid an arm and leg for the service.

Dr. Bose and De Smet are very clear on what it costs for their surgical services and the hospital services - it is not like here in the US where everything is a secret.

Hundreds of us have traveled to India and Belgium.  You just want to make sure you are using one of the really good hip resurfacing doctors. You can't go wrong with Dr. Bose.  Many also like Dr. Malhan.  I jusst don't know much about him.

Let me know if I can help with any other information.
