Wii Exercises
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:48:52 AM »
For about 8 months before my surgery I started using the Wii Fit program (mostly yoga and strength training) portion of the program. I lost 10 lbs and improved my flexibility and strength considerably. I am convinced that this preparation helped me both during the surgery and post. I am 18 days post and have been walking on a cane only since day 4 and have gotten up to about a mile walk. I am doing pt myself (after 3 visits seemed to not add much value for her to watch me exercise). I used to be a runner and hope to return to running later this year. Today I started using the Wii again (some standing yoga and stretching, minimal strength, felt great.

Does anyone else use Wii Fit? I am interested in your comments......

We got the WII just in December....

We do the WII Fit, WII Sports (love tennis) and EA Active Outdoor Adventure (has a mat)...we only will buy things that get you off the couch and move.

Its a blast.....

I had my surgery in August 08 and we got the Wii in January.  I have also used the yoga and balance exercises on the Wii Fit.  They are great for stretching and building up those muscles that support your hip and balance.  I would highly recommend it.

I've never used it but am thinking about getting it. It sounds like it would be a good allround fitness tool.
