Now 6 weeks and happy as can be.

Had my right hip resurfaced by Dr. Schmalzried 6 weeks ago tomorrow and feel great. I wrote three blog entries as well to talk about my experience but would be happy to answer any questions here as well.

Honestly, I am better than I started in some ways. Probably not quite fully "normal" yet but close enough that I expect to get there! Obviously, I can't know your situation but you will keep improving if you keep working at it!

Most people return to normal and live very active lives after surgery.  If you were an athlete before, you will most likely return to those activities.  If you weren't, you will return to what was normal before your hip problems.  It does take time.  The worse shape your hip was in, the longer it takes to return to a normal, active life.   Your muscles have to learn all over and get in shape.  It happens fairly easy for most people.  Many surgeons don't even have patients do any extensive PT.  Many just suggest that you walk, walk and walk.

Give yourself time to heal and you will find out how active you can be again. Patience is your best friend.
