Medicare for resurfacing?

Has anyone had any experience with Medicare and a resurfacing procedure?  It is hard finding surgeons who will consider resurfacing for 65 year old patients, and even if you do, you have to worry about payment.  I contacted Dr. Gross and he would do the procedure but he does not accept Medicare for his fees so that would be $4000 out of pocket.  As an active 65 year old tennis player, I really would prefer the hip resurfacing route, but am beginning to think that it is falling into the "too hard" category given the difficulty finding an experienced surgeon and getting Medicare to pay.
