Suggestions for Colorado doctor
« on: February 15, 2010, 06:11:22 PM »
Anyone have recommendations for a re-surfacing doctor in Colorado?  I'm in Telluride, so far from convenient to be traveling the state shopping doctors.  I'm 39 year old male, very healthy and active.

Thanks.

Hi

Welcome to Hip Talk.

There are several in Colorado  http://www.surfacehippy.info/listofdoctors.php#Colorado

Very few people are able to use surgeons in their own home town or often state.  Hip resurfacing is a very diffiuclt surgery and it is best to choose surgeons that have done many hundreds to thousands.

You did not say how old you are or your gender.  If you are an older female, you will most likely only get resurfacing from the most experinced surgeons and will have to travel.  Many US surgeons don't like doing women over 50.  It is not correct and each person should be judged indivudually, but many have their minds set against older women. If you have very diffiuclt hip problems or are an older man, you will also want to seek out the most expeirnced.

Check my list  http://www.surfacehippy.info/listofdoctors.php

Michael Dayton at University of Colorado. I've been very happy with his work. I got two BHR's and a total. My mom got a total and a knee. She still skis 20 runs a day. I still climb, pack, ski and do my usual crazy things that wore my hips out.

Dr. Rector from Boulder is awesome. He did a perfectly placed BHR on my right hip in July. I just had my 6 month follow up and everything is perfectly aligned and I am cleared for all activities!

check out his website: http://www.coloradohipresurfacing.com/index.html

If you make an appointment online DR. RECTOR will contact you personally.
