Anyone have brusing around surgical site?
« on: April 21, 2010, 10:38:05 AM »
Posted by Pat for Jeff

I am an avid reader and have learned alot from this site.  I am 55 years old & 9 days post-op LBHR and appear to be doing well.  I am walking with a cane now, but no races nor bicycling as I have read others do at this juncture.  My question surrounds brusing and swelling.  I had a significant amount of swelling post-op  for first week, as well as significant bruising on left glute that now seems to be going down my leg away from the surgical site versus just disapating.  I continue with my doctor's protocol of Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevation as well as wearing of TED sock on surgical leg (thigh highs) and use of blood thinner to prevent DVT.  With regards to bruising....anyone else experience massive bruising around surgical site?

Thanks Jeff

I had all the colors of the rainbow on both legs, it would travel around. My butt was the size of a refrigerator, it gets better, hang in there, you are doing all the right things. moe

Hi

On my first BHR i had massive swelling on the operated leg - my knee almost disappeared under it!   ;D

On both BHRs I had a lot of bruising which migrated slowly down my leg until I ended up with a purple foot.  It looked very strange but caused no problems for me.    The body does strange things at times.

All the best.
