Belgium Cofee Shop
« on: August 17, 2010, 01:23:06 PM »
About halfway between the hospital and the villa, I had hot chocolate and cakes at the De Smet Patisserie (I think no direct relation to the doctor). So even before the operation, the trip to Belgium has been worth while.

I get my new hip tomorrow morning.

Blessings Dan.  I've enjoyed following your postings and I look forward to future postings where you describe a great recovery, including lifting your children up again.

Yum -- Now that you are fortified with hot chocolate and cakes, I'm sure you will do great!  :-)  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.  -- Eileen

Thank you Mac and Eileen.

I am now an hour away from being taken to the hospital. I slept well last night, woke up minutes before the alarm was set to go off, and have had a good long hot shower. Yesterday, the nurse marked a large letter X on my left thigh, and I was careful not to scrub it off.

Here at the clinic, I have also met Silvercat, who also posts on this forum and had both hips done last week. He is doing well.

The doctor told me I am the second to be done this morning, so I looking forward to meeting whoever else gets theirs done today.

Dan

Day six, Tuesday, I got a tram into the city, walked around the old quarter, had Belgium waffle with chocolate (not as good as I had hoped). In the evening walked around till we found a restaurant that looked promising. In my wife's estimate, in total, walked about 5 kilometres (3 miles).

Day Seven, Yesterday, I was stiff.

Day eight, today, I feel stronger and want to go out again, but it is raining.

Glad to hear you are doing well.  Hey- take it easy. If you push too much you could cause swelling and that means more time resting.  That happened to the gal I was with.  She had no significant swelling until we ran around, then her hip blew right up.  SHe had to stay down and ice for a day.

So enjoy - but take it easy  You have plenty of time to use that hip.
