I would like to welcome Michael Montgomery to our Hip Talk Discussion Group.  He has shared his story with me via email and I have a link posted here http://www.surfacehippy.info/michaelmontgomery.php
I hope you enjoy his story and I wish everyone could do an Ironman at 6 months post op!

Wow! These athletes are amazing. Here's a guy that totally pushed
the envelope again, completed an Ironman at only six months post op.
What is really cool for all the other athletes out there, is that he
lists his entire rehab program in order for him to reach that goal to
compete in the Ironman at six months. Incredible! I LOVED his
shirt!

New Birmingham Hip Replacement
$39,000
Finishing Ironman Six Months Later
priceless!

Very cool! You rock Michael!  Only thing is your shirt should have said New Birmingham Hip Resurfacing.  :-)

Congratulations Michael - I am also an Ironman triathlete that will be facing this procedure soon.  Can anyone put me in touch with Michael?  I did not notice an email address for him.

Thanks,
Bill

As far as saying New Birmingham Hip Resurfacing vs. New Birmingham Hip Replacement I talked it over my Doctor, Chief or Orthopedics and marathon runner, Jay Mabrey at http://www.ntorthospecialists.com/ and we both agreed that most people would not know what a resurface was and we were looking to make an impact on the other athletes and spectators.

I got the chance to go into detail with many people during the run, and explained the difference in the two procedures.

I have posted my email address on my profile now so you should be able to contact me if necessary.  Be sure to download my rehab schedule and read though my write up as I tried to address as many questions there as possible.

PS, ran the Ft Worth Turkey Trot yesterday and keeping in mind my 10K PR is 48 min.
I ran a 57 min 10K which is 9 min miles.  The speed is comming back and I LOVE this hip.
