Does your hip have a name?
« on: May 02, 2011, 12:35:03 AM »
She has been such a literal pain in the arse these past few days, I'm thinking it would be only fitting and proper to name her.  Something that reflects her gentle acetabularity.  Something appropriate for her spikey soul.  Something that complements the little sparkley metallic glint in her sense of self.  I was thinking of something lofty, like Bellerophon.  But I think I'll stick with Betty.  Betty Birmingham.

Like it.  No names (yet) for my 2.  I'm still struggling to come up with an updated pseudonym after HR number 2.

Kate, I finished the Rome HBO series during my recovery. I think I am going to give it a Roman sounding name - HipaTavius.  The land was rotten and barren and she came in and restored it to its original beauty.
Even when the Senate (Health Industry) tried to block her, she held steadfast and fought for her people (me).  Long Live HIPATAVIUS!!!!

I like Betty Brimingham and Hiptavius too.  Halfdone - I still like done-n-done.  We all hope we're done-n-done after getting both done, but who knows what will happen in 15 or 20 years.  Maybe need another  or THR and then you could be four-times done.  Let's hope not.

hey I don't speak French.  Mike - what do they mean?

Maybe I'll go with Coby (cobalt) and Moly (molybdenum)

I don't speak French either, but they mean "The Right" and "The Left".  I suppose I could name them "The Right" and "The Left", but doing it in French just seems to show a certain...je ne sais pas...eh...savoir-vivre?

I like Coby and Moly ! In Japanese martial arts, we can find "Hidari (left) and Migi (right). Perhaps should I use "Hidari" for my coming HRA...

This is getting my creative juices flowing.  I have three months to come up with a name for my left.  Fortunately I won't have to do my right hip in the foreseeable future.

How about a nautical theme?  I will be "hipshape."

Definitely preferable to "Disco" and "Grunge".

edit:  actually, Disco and Grunge might make a great name for a hip new network cop series.

Agreed.  Plus Hip Hop has been taken already by some other Punk.  ;)

Mike, I noticed your doc has perfect name for an ortho.  Is his partner is Dr. Socket?

Unfortunately, no.

But, believe it or not, he does have a PA named Acetabular Cup.

Maybe it's the choice drugs I'm on, but I read that and laughed till the tears rolled down my face.  Thanks.  I needed that.

Mine doesn't have a proper name, but ever since I found out that it cost $25,000, I've been calling it my "bling".  I don't wear much "bling" on the outside, but I've got my cobalt "bling" on the inside (and it's priceless)!

Johndz -Excellent maritime reference.

Dimples - If yours cost $25,000 then mine probably ought to be bling bling.  The hospital cost $55k.  Yikes

Welcome!   ;D

Ever since this thread was posted I've been trying to think of suitable names for my pair of hips.  Here in England we have an expression in supermarkets - Buy One Get One Free - or BOGOF for short.  As I paid for my first one and the NHS (state) paid for the other perhaps mine should be BOGOF 1 and BOGOF 2.     ;D

OK, too funny! You creative guys are killing me.
I, being an avid equestrian and always having to hook-up and unhook my horse trailer, refer to it as my "trailer hitch". That is the first thing that popped into my mind when I viewed my post-op surgery radiograph.

I like that. Since my max out-of-pocket insurance copayment was hit on the first one, the second one was also BOGOF too!
