And...so.....we go on. Moving towards 4 years now.
« on: May 24, 2011, 11:08:00 PM »
Like Dr. Ure first told me when I kept complaining that I was still having problems....Are you ready to have it redone?       So patience, time, hope, and ...

THe squeaks are gone now.  The pain is not as specific to the groin but is more general and spreads towards the thigh.  Still thumps and grinds...most noticeable and disturbing sex.  Just this year I finally found a local ortho who would admit that my A-cup was a little misaligned, something that Dr. Ure hinted at but could not conclude as a problem.

I see that there is great research and more info now on resurfacing problems.  Thanks to everyone who shares their story.

I never took the step 3 years ago to send xrays to Dr. De Smet because of the wierd FEDX issues.  Now I see that Dr. Gross and others are doing consultations, so I just emailed Dr. Gross to see how to send him my xrays.  I am mainly interested in knowing what to expect and what I need to know about revisions.  I'm taking Celebrex again, after several years off post-surgery. 8)

You could have, and still can, e-mail your x-rays to Dr. De Smet.

The only digitals I have are huge on a CD and are only opened by some archaic medical program.  I still might consider sending him the xrays though.  Do you know if the delivery methods got any smoother?

Most of these x ray viewers have the option to save as a jpeg, try file/save and see what comes up. Otherwise you may be able to open it in a good drawing office package and convert that way. If all else fails zip and send the .exe file as well.

The Dicom viewer that I'm using for Mac (Osirix) also has an export option.  Pretty sure I saw a windows one in the google results for 'dicom viewer'.  Not sure if this is the file format you have though.

Dr. Bose, upon reviewing my xrays, replied:

This cup is very open and vertical.
This is edge loading and hence painful.
This would need a failry early rev to a THR>

Dr. Su replied:

I'm afraid the cup is too vertical. I would bet the metal ions are high.

Dr, Nargol replied:

yes tiny line around stem tip,

? line around cup

needs metal ion levels and a ultrasound and a bone scan

Bone Scan is negative for loose components; working on MRI and another metal ion test.  Still painful.

I read your posts, sorry to hear about the issues with your HR.

I know we all want the HR to succeed, but maybe now the best is to go to a THR or is a cup replacement possible? I'm not at all an expert, but I feel for you, and at least whatever you decide to do, the pain and problems will be done.
