Soft Tissue Healing Timeline
« on: October 28, 2011, 08:57:41 AM »
Does anyone have a good feel for when it is ok to start vigorous massage or rolling of the surgical area.  At four weeks post op today and the incision is completely healed, and wondered if rolling the area to reduce or break up scar tissue was ok.  I will meet with Dr. Gross in two weeks, but wanted to know if anyone else has been given advice on the subject.  Curt

Thanks, not in a rush, but don't want to let the scar tissue get a "hold' on me if I can help it.  Curt

I think I started massaging mine as soon as the incision healed.  It has certainly help reduce the lumpiness.  The area around my incision and my scar look great.

My PT starting rubbing my butt at about 4 weeks.  Now at 9 weeks he just makes me exercise the whole time.  My scar is still a bit lumpy.  The older one (8 months) has pretty well settled in and ir had a similar treatment, something like a massage once a week for 4 weeks.

Thanks for the input.   I'll start using a massage stick and see how it goes!  Curt
