Like a lot of new Hippies, most of us started our journey to resurfacing via a doctors, good research, or like me - hearing about it from someone who had already experienced one or two.
I was pondering my 6 week check up with Dr. Gross, and decided to email the man who introduced me to resurfacing quite a while ago. We were flying together and I was having one of my bad hip days, and he enlightened me on his successful resurfacings. He did both 9 years ago when it was still getting certified(?) here in the U.S. I'm pretty sure both of his were BHRs.
Anyway, what intrigued me was his desire to pass on the knowledge of the difference between THR and HR and how it allowed him to return to an active lifestyle. His response email stated that he just celebrated his 61st birthday today in Illinois by biking 61 miles in the country. Not bad for a "test case".
I'm really grateful to have had the luck to fly with that gentleman, or I would be sitting here with a total hip, probaby pain free, but also with less of a chance to return to a level of activity that the HR might allow. I hope in the next few years that I have the chance to affect someone else's life in as meaningful a way. I'm not a believer that HRs are for every single person with a bad hip, but the knowlege about them is, as the commercial puts it, "PRICELESS". Cheers everybody, just feeling good today. Curt
