20 days until surgery!
« on: March 13, 2012, 09:23:39 AM »
The days seem to drag on...we have a couple of good moments through each day. He is wheelchair bound for now because the pain is too bad. He did get out with his friends yesterday and played basketball (in the wheelchair). He was paying for it during the night...moaning. I just hate it. I can't wait to have my family back together and for my baby boy to finally be a kid again.

My sincere support for all your family and your son is going through, it has to be gut wrenching.  You will be in very good hands with Dr. Brooks, and a great outcome and being off crutches and out of the chair is a couple of months away.

Best regards,

Dan

I've read your story, and feel for you and your son.  The procedure is easy, and the outcomes are overwhelmingly good.  I'm at 8 weeks and feel pretty much completely normal.

You will have your son back, very soon.

Hope the days go by faster, you all deserve it.

He's going to feel much better quickly, the soreness for me was like really overdoing it working out, not that sharp, debilitating OA pain. You are really doing the best, Dr. Brooks has a great reputation, and I'm sure will do everything to make this a success.

You won't see him in a wheel chair until he gets out of the hospital (I hear it's a law). It's walkers and crutches afterwards, and not for that long. He'll be walking without pain in due time, I can tell you that with two after a year, I am doing things I haven't done for five or six years.

I feel for you, can't imagine the pain of seeing him like this, but there is a solution in 20 days.

I know it must be so hard right now. But just think in 3 weeks time Alec will be on the road to having his life back! From that day onwards each day he will heal up a little better and that will surely make the hell of what your all gong through worth while. HE WILL GET HIS LIFE BACK!!
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Good luck. I'm up now. Cant say much yet about the recovery since I'm 5 hours post op. I will keep your son in our nightly prayers with the kids just that the surgery goes well and for this to give him wonderful quality of life improvements.
