Did you still get startup pain at 5 months post op?
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:41:46 PM »
When I first get up out of bed in the morning I'm getting startup pain.  Nothing crazy but it takes about 10 or  steps to get moving without a hitch.  I feel this sometimes after long drives or sitting for a long period of ime.  Nothing extreme but something I def. notice.  I'm hoping this is fairly common and nothing I should be concerned with.

Pete,

I'm just a little behind you in my recovery. I still have start up stiffness and slight pain whenever I get up from sitting for any length of time. Mornings are more stiffness than pain. I think it's normal, if there is such a thing. I'm not worrying about it and I don't think you should be worried either.

I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you guys at about 21 weeks.  I go for my 6 month check-up on May 7, but I think it's a week early.  I can feel the improvements daily.  All the stiffness is gone and I barely even feel any discomfort.  My strength is back and I'm working on my fitness.  I'm not sure when but a couple weeks ago or maybe a month everything just started to get better fast.  You'll see, it's almost time to get rocking!

I rode the mountain bike this morning, mostly on the flats, pushing it and feeling great.  At about 1 hour 20 minutes my legs were wiped out and I took it easy going home.

Yes, Pete - I had startup stiffness until about 9 months. It was gone on both sides by about then.

I still get some stiffness after a long drive now, but it's hard to tell whether it's just what I would have gotten anyways. Other than that, no problems now.

Pete;

I'm 6.5 months post op on one side, and I do not get startup pain, but I do get startup stiffness, after rising from a seated position only.  I do not get that when rising from a prone position.  It is more stiff depending on the seat: car seat seems worst.

The other side is just over 2 months, and is stiff as well in same situations, but is not painful.

Thanks

Dan
